Air terminal

The Azores Airport terminal is a single-story building. In 2019, the terminal served over 2 million passengers and handled almost 30 thousand flights. The Azores Airport has 10 gates, with 12 airlines operating in the terminal. They fly 34 routes—some destinations are summer-only.

WIFI

São Miguel Airport has unlimited free WiFi, accessed on smartphone, tablet or computer. Select the network “_VINCI Airports WiFi“. First-time users must register. 

Check-in counters and public areas

Find the check-in counters on the right side of the terminal, near the main entrance. The public area has multi-bank ATMs, a post office, a bank, luggage storage and tourist information, car rental, Aerobus tickets and cab booking. 

Azores Airport international flight area

After check-in and security, travelers enter the international flight area. 

Priority Pass, DragonPass, Diners Club, SATA Silversky, Goldsky, Imagine and Trade members and SATA Air Açores business class passengers can use the SATA Lounge.  The lounge has AC, press, TV, snacks and beverages. 

Boarding area stores and restaurants are open to all passengers.

Customs and baggage claim

Recently arrived travelers go to the baggage claim area. Identify your baggage carousel through the São Miguel Airport APP, ANA App or information screens. Immigration passengers must first go through the Foreigners and Borders Service. 

Arrivals hall

The Ponta Delgada airport arrival area has restaurants, stores, restrooms and lost and found. Meet your pre-booked transfer driver in the public area. Tourist information, car rental and airbus ticket desks are near the exit.

Car rental - pick-up and drop-off

Ponta Delgada airport has multiple car rental options. Our commercial partners offer comfortable cars, vans and buses.

Private transportation

Your private transfer service provider will be waiting for you at disembarkation. Look for your name sign to identify your driver. You may be able to pre-book the outbound transfer to your accommodation and return transfer to the airport. See the section on Transfers for more information.

Shared transfers - shuttle buses

Share a vehicle with other travelers to save money on transportation. Note the transfer will take longer, especially in high season, since you have to wait for other flights to arrive. The vehicle also stops at multiple destinations.

Cabs

Cabs are available at the Azores Airport during terminal opening hours. The cab stand is outside the building near the arrivals gate. Fares vary depending on the time of day, distance and capacity. Refer to the Cab section for more information.

Buses 

Ponta Delgada airport is well connected to the city center by bus. Find information on schedules, stops and fares in the Azores Airport Bus section.

Ferris

Ferries connect São Miguel with other Azores islands. Check the schedules to plan your trip. Adverse weather may affect departure and arrival times.

Parking

The Azores Airport terminal has two parking lots: P1 (short term) and P2 (long term). If you are planning a long trip or are a frequent traveler, purchase a monthly pass. 

Those dropping off passengers can use the free Kiss & Fly area. Stay for up to 10 minutes.
