Parking options

The Azores airport has two main parking areas, operated by ANA Aeropuertos de Portugal. The enterprise oversees parking areas for travellers and visitors. These are the only permissible parking spaces within the perimeter of Ponta Delgada Airport. For your convenience and comfort, we provide 24-hour service. Simply follow the parking signs. Parking options, functions and rates are detailed below.

Kiss & Fly zone

If dropping off or picking up a passenger, please remember that stopping in front of terminal entrances and exits is prohibited. To avoid traffic congestion, the airport provides a Kiss & Fly zone. Parking here is free for a maximum of 10 minutes. You may park here for free twice in one day. The regular rate will apply to additional stops made within 24 hours, regardless of the length of stay.

Parking contracts

Azores airport has a lot of frequent user traffic. In order to respond to their needs, favourable parking contracts have been created. By subscribing to this service, you can enjoy special rates and conditions.

Parking P1 – short-term

The P1 parking lot at Ponta Delgada Airport is intended for short stays.  It is closest to the terminal’s entrance and exit gates and also the most expensive. 

Parking P2 – long-term

If you plan to leave your vehicle at Ponta Delgada Airport while traveling, use the P2 parking area. It is intended for longer periods, and its rates are more economical. Although slightly further from the terminal entrance, it is still within walking distance on the airport premises. 

Prepaid card

Prepaid cards are an excellent option for regular users of ANA Portugal Airport parking facilities. They are valid in all the network’s parking lots. The fixed rate is also more favourable, and the cards can easily be recharged as needed by crediting funds to your account. They are available at the Azores airport parking cashier’s counter. 

Reservation

The parking capacity at Azores airport is more than enough to meet the demand. However, some companies offer parking reservations in unofficial parking lots. Although a valid alternative, these are external services outside the purview of Ponta Delgada airport operators. 

Short-term parking

Ponta Delgada Airport offers exclusive parking for short stays. Less than a 1–minute walk from the terminal entrance, it can accommodate 184 vehicles. Open to all, it is primarily intended for dropping off or picking up passengers at the airport. Please note that the parking fee is higher. 

Prices for P1 parking

  • Each 15-minute period: €0.80.
  • Maximum rate 1 day: €18.50.
  • Each additional 24 hours or fraction therefore: €7.
  • Annual subscription: €470
  • Free parking spaces for motorcycles in designated parking spaces

Long-term parking

From São Miguel airport, you can easily travel to other islands. Many residents of Ponta Delgada and other cities frequently use these routes. The P2 parking area is designed for anyone needing to leave their car while traveling. The P2 zone is 3 minutes from the terminal entrance. It has 192 parking spaces. 

P2 parking rates

  • Each 15-minute period: €0.70.
  • Maximum rate 1 day: €12.
  • Each additional 24 hours or fraction thereof: €4.
  • Monthly subscription: €65.
  • Quarterly subscription: €160.
  • Semi-annual subscription: €245.
  • Annual subscription: €370.

Parking for buses and minivans

Private transport vehicles, such as buses and minivans, may use the parking facilities at São Miguel airport. However, they must pay a higher fee. The cost is €0.90 per 15-minute stay. Most of these carriers choose to subscribe to a monthly (€115), quarterly (€345), half-yearly (€690) or annual (€1,380) plan.

Parking rules near departures and arrivals

It is expressly forbidden to park in front of the terminal access gates. The parking areas have been conveniently arranged to ensure the safety and comfort of Azores airport patrons.

Other parking options near the airport

Some companies outside the airport perimeter offer parking spaces. Located near the terminal, they usually offer other services, such as car wash or maintenance. For example, TravelCar has 63 spaces available just 5 minutes from the airport and operates 24 hours a day.

Parking alternatives for Azores airport

If you plan to be away from Ponta Delgada for more than 48 hours, you may want to request a transfer service. The cost of private transportation will most likely be less than the cost of a parking space at the airport. Check the providers’ rates and their schedules and conditions.
